Recently, Builder’s Bloc completed it’s first large commercial metal stud
project. For ten weeks, 30-plus carpenters erected a six-story hotel, working over 10,000 SAFE hours. The project, located on Hanley road just south of Highway 40 in St. Louis County, was an unusually tight site requiring two special cranes that were brought in from England.
This project was planned and managed with an incredible focus on safety and the needed efficiency and productivity the customer required. Steve Blankenship and Jeff Sagez teamed with Alan Baremore and Ken Huellinghoff to direct the skilled team to safely erect panel after panel with the heavy lifting done by the two tower cranes.
Preplanning, staging and timing were crucial, but this talented team made it look easy. The textbook leadership demonstrated on this team was a benchmark for the industry. Our team’s exceptional performance caught the attention of several potential customers and general contractors. It became a St. Louis/Builder’s Bloc tourist attraction for both customers and Builder’s Bloc employees.
“Utilizing innovative techniques and technology” is an important part of our Builder’s Bloc group mission statement. We have now added metal stud work as part of our arsenal. Our partner on this project is the Worthington Mid-Rise Construction Company from Cleveland, Ohio. They are to be commended for their expertise, cooperation and support. Congratulations to all the staff of Worthington and Builder’s Bloc for making this project a huge success.
